Compliance Program (Actions)
The FAA Compliance Program (formerly known as the Compliance Philosophy) is designed to promote safety by helping pilots, mechanics, dispatchers, aircraft owners, operators, and other aviation stakeholders address instances of non-compliance with aviation regulations. The program emphasizes collaboration, root-cause analysis, and education rather than punishment. When deviations occur, the FAA prefers to resolve them through informal, non-punitive means—such as counseling, training, or other corrective actions—provided the issues are unintentional, non-repetitive, and do not involve deliberate misconduct or reckless behavior.
Key Points:
- Always File an Aviation Safety Report (ASR)
- Never Ignore an FAA Investigation
- Compliance Actions are not a violation
- Resolution via Compliance is preferable to legal action
- Compliance Actions are not typically recorded in the PRD
- When in doubt – contact an aviation attorney for assistance
